OBESITI MELAYU BARU

Saya teringat akan kata Dr. Abu Hassan Hayastani di dalam facebooknya pada 19 April .. sebagaimana berikut

"Obesiti politik Melayu adalah akibat terlalu kenyang dengan jamuan percuma..."

Dan tiba-tiba hari ini jam 1 pagi saya terbaca artikel di bawah (sila baca - dalam bahasa Inggeris ya..) apabila sedang mengedit berita tentang seminar homeopati di Cyberjaya. Saya tertanya-tanya, perlukah kita hidup dengan makanan berlebihan hari-hari sehingga kita berkemungkinan sampai kepada masalah obese. Justeru punca utamanya ialah amalan makanan dan pemakanan harian.

Bukan saja kita di sini hari ini mewah dengan jamuan percuma, tetapi kita semua berlebihan duit dan setiap kali kita keluar dari rumah kita, kita cenderung untuk membeli dan makan. Sudah kenyang pun kita masih membeli dan makan. Kadang-kadang kita makan banyak sebelah pagi, atau makan agak berat pada jam 10 pagi. Bila tiba waktu tengahari kita tetap makan walaupun belum merasa lapar.

Akhir-akhir ini pula sejak game baru 'futsal' menjadi gimik harian, ramai-ramailah kita berfutsal, kadang-kadang sampai jam 2 atau 3 pagi. Lepas berfutsal kita makan lagi. Walaupun sebelum pergi ke gelanggang kita sudah minumpun.

Hidup hari ini benar-benar untuk makan. Sudah kenyangpun, bila kawan belanja atau ada makanan percuma, kita tetap makan. Haruskah kita berkelakuan sedemikian hingga ke suatu tahap kita terpaksa mengambil pelbagai prosedur perubatan demi menangani masalah yang kita cari sendiri?

 Ke mana perginya panduan RasuluLlah s.a.w. kepada umatnya?. Dan untuk hari ini saya petik pesanan yang disampaikan oleh Pn. Siti Rohani Sulaiman di dalam discussion boardnya buat teman-teman pelayar laman www.drhatta.com.

Syaikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz ditanya: Bagaimana keshahihan hadits berikut:

نحن قوم لا نأكل حتى نجوع وإذا أكلنا لا نشبع

“Kita (kaum muslimin) adalah kaum yang hanya makan bila lapar dan berhenti makan sebelum kenyang“

Syaikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz menjawab:
Hadits ini memang diriwayatkan dari sebagian sahabat yang bertugas sebagai utusan, namun sanadnya dhaif. Diriwayatkan bahwa para sahabat tersebut berkata dari Rasulullah Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam:

نحن قوم لا نأكل حتى نجوع وإذا أكلنا لا نشبع

“Kita (kaum muslimin) adalah kaum yang hanya makan bila lapar dan berhenti makan sebelum kenyang“
Maksudnya yaitu bahwa kaum muslimin itu hemat dan sederhana.

Maknanya benar, namun sanadnya dhaif, silakan periksa di Zaadul Ma’ad dan Al Bidayah Wan Nihayah. Faidahnya, bahwa seseorang baru makan sebaiknya jika sudah lapar atau sudah membutuhkan.

Dan ketika makan, tidak boleh berlebihan sampai kekenyangan. Adapun rasa kenyang yang tidak membahayakan, tidak mengapa. Karena orang-orang di masa Nabi Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam dan masa selain mereka pun pernah makan sampai kenyang. Namun mereka menghindari makan sampai terlalu kenyang.

Terkadang Rasulullah Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam mengajak para sahabat ke sebuah jamuan makan. Kemudian beliau menjamu mereka dan meminta mereka makan. Kemudian mereka makan sampai kenyang. Setelah itu barulah Rasulullah Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam makan beserta para sahabat yang belum makan.

Terdapat hadits, di masa Rasulullah Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam, ketika sedang terjadi perang Khandaq, Jabir bin Abdillah Al Anshari mengundang Nabi Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam untuk memakan daging sembelihannya yang kecil ukurannya beserta sedikit gandum.

Kemudian Rasulullah Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam mengambil sepotong roti dan daging, kemudian beliau memanggil sepuluh orang untuk masuk dan makan. Mereka pun makan hingga kenyang kemudian keluar. Lalu dipanggil kembali sepuluh orang yang lain, dan demikian seterusnya.

Allah menambahkan berkah pada daging dan gandum tadi, sehingga bisa cukup untuk makan orang banyak, bahkan masih banyak tersisa, hingga dibagikan kepada para tetangga.

Dan suatu hari, Nabi Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam menyajikan susu pada Ahlus Shuffah (salah satunya Abu Hurairah, pent). Abu Hurairah berkata: “Aku minum sampai puas”. Kemudian Nabi Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam bersabda: “Ayo minum lagi, Abu Hurairah“.
Maka aku minum. Kemudian Nabi Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam bersabda: “Ayo minum lagi“. Maka aku minum lagi. Kemudian Nabi Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam bersabda: “Ayo minum lagi“. Maka aku minum lagi, lalu aku berkata “Demi Dzat yang mengutusmu dengan kebenaran, tidak lagi aku dapati tempat untuk minuman dalam tubuhku”.
Kemudian Nabi Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam mengambil susu yang tersisa dan meminumnya. Semua ini adalah dalil bolehnya makan sampai kenyang dan puas yang wajar, selama tidak membahayakan.
 

Rujuk laporan Yahoo Malaysia:  KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- For more than five years, Azhar Jamal,

35, tried almost everything to reduce weight, but to no avail.

He went on a diet and even took weight reduction pills to bring down his

body weight from 135kg, but nothing happened. Instead, he became more lethargic and faced difficulties in carrying on his daily routine.

Azhar''s ''weight woes'' started after he quit sporting activities and totally

ignored healthy eating.

"When I underwent a medical check up, my cholesterol and blood pressure

levels were high. The doctor advised me to reduce body weight to avoid other

ailments. Since then, I have tried everything to reduce my body weight, including

dieting, drinking juices and taking pills. Yet my body weight barely changed,"

said Azhar to Bernama recently.

 

BALLOON HELPS TO REDUCE FOOD INTAKE

In early 2010, he consulted a dietician at the Prince Court Medical Centre,

who not only proposed a diet regimen but also recommended that he place a

gastric balloon in his stomach.

Azhar agreed to undergo both and finally started seeing some results. Within

six months, he reached his ideal body weight of 93kg.

"Through this approach, I did not have to sacrifice my favourite food, the

''nasi kandar'', and could still eat five times a day. I only had to reduce the

amount I ate and exercise at least thrice a week.

"The balloon, inserted in the stomach using an endoscope, creates a feeling

of fullness after small meals. After six months, the balloon is taken out, but

one has to continue with healthy eating habits to maintain the ideal body weight

after that.

"In those six months, the average weight lost is about 20kg," he said.

"My friends were surprised with my new figure. Some of them can hardly

recognise me, and I no longer felt lethargic like before. Earlier, I used to

wear shirts of size ''XXXL,'' but now, I can wear ''XL'' shirts," said Azhar.

 

TEMPORARY PROCEDURE

Prince Court Medical Centre Consultant Gastroenterologist Datuk Dr Ryan

Ponnudurai said the endoscopic placement of a gastric balloon was designed to

assist people who needed to lose an average of 20 kilogrammes or more.

To qualify for the procedure, which does not require surgery, the person

must be motivated and be ready to fully comply with a serious, medically

supervised programme of diet and exercise, he said.

"The procedure is only done on patients who fulfil certain criteria. First,

the patient should not be very obese, just overweight. They might have gained

weight recently because of some issues and they want to return to their original

weight," he said.

Dr Ponnudurai said the balloon would be temporarily inserted into the

stomach for six months to create a feeling of early and prolonged fullness after

meals.

 

FEEL FULL

"They (patient) come in, they fast overnight and then we put the scope down,

we place the balloon and we come out. In the little balloon, we put in 500cc of

salt water and we leave it in the stomach.

"We keep the patient in the centre only for one night. They can actually go

home the same day, but we suggest they stay overnight.

"We put the balloon in the stomach so you cannot eat as much. That is the

whole purpose. You will feel full and not feel like eating more," he said.

Dr Ponnudurai said the amount of weight a patient sheds and maintains

depends on how closely they follow their diet, exercise and adopt long-term

lifestyle changes.

"Before the procedure begins, the patient receives a full evaluation by a

psychologist and a dietician to consider what procedure is suitable for the

patient and what will benefit him or her patient the most," he said.

LOST AN AVERAGE 20 KG

Dr Ponnudurai said the patient would experience discomfort for the first few

days as the stomach gets used to the balloon. They are likely to suffer from

nausea and vomiting after the procedure.

"But it goes away with time. They have to be on liquids for two days. As

they get used to the balloon, they can increase their diet," he said.

Dr Ponnudurai said the cost of the whole procedure was under RM15,000.

"A total of 15 patients had the procedure here since we started about a year

ago. The results have been good so far: all the patients have lost an average of

20kg," he said.
